FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

For the Road Anthology to be Released Dec. 10

Columbus, Ohio — Columbus Creative Cooperative is proud to announce the release of its latest anthology, For the Road: Short Stories of America’s Highways.

For the Road takes readers into the minds of ten exceptional authors, collecting tales from the highway. America has a great literary tradition of the road – from Steinbeck’s Travels with Charley and The Grapes of Wrath, to Kerouac’s On the Road, the highway has consistently represented a place of adventure and the prospect of something better over the horizon. From literary fiction, to science fiction and ghost stories, CCC’s new anthology examines the world from hearth and home.

“One thing that’s really excited me about this book is the variety of genres and interests it represents,” said Brad Pauquette, CCC director. “I think it’s one of the best anthologies our members have produced so far.”

The public is invited to celebrate the anthology’s launch at 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 10 at the Claddagh Irish Pub, 585 S. Front Street, Columbus. The launch party is free and open to the public, and will provide a chance to clink glasses with anthology authors, chat with other writers, enjoy some Irish pub fare and pick up a copy of For the Road.

CCC’s ninth anthology, For the Road will be available in paperback and e-book formats on December 10. Copies can be purchased from CCC’s online store, columbuscoop.org/store.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Anthology About Columbus, by Columbus, for Columbus, to Release on December 14

Columbus, Ohio – November 23, 2011 – On December 14, 2011 a new book featuring twelve stories about Columbus, Ohio, written by twelve Central Ohio writers will hit shelves locally and nationally.

Across Town: Stories of Columbus, will be the third anthology of Columbus Creative Cooperative, a Columbus publishing group. The book will feature stories by well-known Columbus authors, as well as include the work of developing talent.

The publisher selected twelve stories from a multitude of submissions with the stipulation that every story must be at least partially set in Central Ohio. The accumulated body of work is not only an impressive literary work, but a tribute to the vibrant talent in Columbus, Ohio and the great metropolis itself.

“This book is fantastic for three reasons,” explained CCC director Brad Pauquette. “First, Columbus, Ohio is a fantastic city. Second, of more than 3 million people in our little metropolis, we’ve got some great writers. Finally, Columbus is a diverse, amazing city with enough venues, neighborhoods and suburbs to house any story.”

Although all of the stories are fictional, the narratives of Across Town feature real Columbus landmarks. Notably, scenes are set at The Ohio State University, the topiary gardens, Franklin Park Conservatory, Northstar Cafe and Via Vecchia winery.

“It’s great to be able to include these talented writers and these wonderful locations in our city,” Brad Pauquette said. “As a cooperative, our goal is to bring writers and readers together, and it’s fantastic that we can base that on a mutual interest in our city.”

The book will be sold at local retailers, including, among others, all Cup O Joe coffee shops for only $9.35, and distributed nationally. Following the December 14, 2011 release, the book will also be available for Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble Nook, iPad and on Google Books for other e-reader devices.

Currently, readers who choose to pre-order the book on the publisher’s website, www.ColumbusCoop.org, by December 10, 2011 will receive free shipping.

Columbus Creative Cooperative’s first two books, Origins and Overgrown, have met a great reception locally, and are both 5-star books on Amazon.com.

A free release event to commemorate Across Town will be held at Kafe Kerouac on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 7:00 p.m., featuring readings from the book, live music and giveaways.
