Submit for Zanesville Workshop – Nov. 6

Our next writers’ workshop (peer-critique) will be in Zanesville, Ohio on November 6, 2018.  If you’d like your work critiqued by the group, submit it now.  All work must be received by Monday morning, October 29.

Submit your work by emailing it to workshops@ohiowriters.org.  If you’re able, please convert your work to a PDF before sending it.

All of the work that is received and selected for the workshop will be posted to the members-only area of the website by the end of the day on October 30 so that everyone can download it and read it in advance of the workshop.

You may submit short stories, essays, novel chapters, poetry, or any other written work to the group for review.  Note that if your work is accepted for the workshop, we expect you to read and provide feedback to the other writers. If you submit, you must be present at the workshop on November  6 to receive feedback.

You are welcome to attend the workshop and provide feedback even if you have not submitted any work for review. This workshop is free. While you do need an OWA membership to download the work, it is free and easy to become a member by registering here.

Our next writers’ workshop will be held in Zanesville on November 6, 2018 at 6:30pm, in partnership with the Y-City Writers.  This workshop will be held at 47 S. 7th St., Zanesville, OH 43701, parking is available across the street.

This is a peer critique for short fiction, essays, poetry and novel chapters. All are welcome to attend. You do NOT need to be an OWA member to attend. And you do NOT need to submit any work to attend, you’re welcome to come and provide feedback to others.

Central Ohio Workshop This Wednesday – October 3rd, 2018

Our next writers’ workshop will be this Wednesday, October 3rd in Pickerington, Ohio.

Our writers’ workshops are peer-critique meetings. Authors submit short stories and novel excerpts they’ve written in advance, to be evaluated and discussed by their peers.

The stories for this workshop are available for download now. Simply login, and navigate to “Workshop Materials and Information” to find the download link.  You’ll also find the time and place details for this workshop.

This workshop is free and open to the public. You do NOT need to be an OWA member or pay to attend.  You may attend and provide feedback to the other authors if you haven’t submitted a story for the group to review.

Submit Your Work for October’s Central Ohio Writers’ Workshop

To have your work peer-reviewed at our Central Ohio writers’ workshop on Wednesday, October 3, please email it to workshops@ohiowriters.org this weekend! All work must be received by 7am on Monday morning, September 24.

This workshop will be held at the Pizza Cottage in Pickerington. The address is 1000 Old Diley Rd, Pickerington, OH 43147 (click for map).  The party room is reserved under “Ohio Writers’ Association.”  Please bring a few bucks to chip in for pizza or to grab a drink.

We will begin this workshop promptly at 7pm.

You do NOT need to be a paid member of OWA to submit work for peer review or to attend this workshop. And you may attend without submitting anything for review.

All workshop attendees are encouraged to download all of the stories prior to the workshop and to read them in advance.

SUBMISSIONS: If you’re able, please submit your work as a PDF document. Submissions must be less than 10,000 words, and must be received by 7am on Monday, July 23rd.

Note that if you’d like feedback on a novel section, 10,000 words is a lot of material. We recommend choosing a natural breaking section closer to 3,000-5,000 words, and if it’s not the beginning of the novel, please provide a paragraph of context for reviewers who have not read previous sections.

All of the stories selected for the workshop will be posted to our website no later than the end of the day on Tuesday, September 25th, 2018, so that everyone can download them, read them in advance, and prepare their feedback.

We know the holidays are a busy time for everybody, so we will be cancelling the short story and novel workshops for December.
