The kids are back in school, the pool is closing, and it’s time to get back to work!

Our day-long mini-retreats will support and enrich you as a writer this fall.

Spend a day with like-minded people, make some new friends, and kickstart your writing.

These retreats will be hosted at inspiring locations around Zanesville, Ohio, which is just a quick 60 minute jaunt east of Columbus on I-70. Close enough to drive both ways in one day, far enough to feel like you’re really away.

You may attend any number of these that you wish.

The Art of Copywriting — September 7 (COMPLETE) — Businesses and marketing agencies are in constant need of qualified people to write great content—from postcard mailers to social media marketing, blogs, and so much more!

Copywriting is the art of writing content that inspires your reader to take action. This is a tremendously valuable skill for all authors, whether you simply use it for self-promotion or begin a freelance career in copywriting. This retreat will teach you key techniques for writing and revising copy that will convert customers for yourself and your clients, and we'll also teach you strategies to maintain healthy relationships with your clients.

The Business of Copywriting — October 12 — How do you build a client base, promote your work, and manage the business of copywriting? Our guests will teach you how to find the right work, maintain great relationships with your clients, and how to keep yourself organized for success.

This retreat will be taught by Brice Bunner, Emily Hitchcock, and Brad Pauquette. It will be held from 9am to 3pm at the Muskingum Valley Vineyard, 299 Putnam Ave., Zanesville, OH 43701. Note that you must pre-register!

We'll cover how to establish a business in Ohio, how to withhold and pay taxes, how to promote your work and develop a client base, and how to get paid! This crash course will give you the skills you need to take your writing talent to the marketplace and begin earning a paycheck.

Open Write-In — November 2 — National Novel Writing Month starts in November. Whether you’re a NaNoWriMo, or you just want to write, we’ll provide desk space and a catered lunch (as well as drinks and snacks all day) at a beautiful, inspiring modern art gallery. You’ll have a full day to dig into your project with all of your needs met and no one bothering you.
